Someone put a damn bullet in this thing! Not pictured a river of coolant and chunks of belt on the street. Hopefully my Chevy 2500 will be ready soon I can’t take this much longer.

Not only does it look ugly, but its engine is a total writeoff. Good to know.

its actually the 3.6L V6 24V VVT Pentastar from dodge and I never had any issues with those in the grand caravan and haven’t heard much hate and dodge puts them in everything so guessing its more of the promaster pentastar relationship that sucks than the engine itself.

I’ve been stranded by a Duracrap 5 times, almost a 6th today. I can’t see how this can be much worse.

I wish I would have kept better track. I know it stranded me 4 times so far that it had to be flat bedded but it’s also spent sooo much time in the shop making it there under its own power. If I minus tires and oil change I bet i still have 14k in repair receipts over 3 years. Headlights alone not even joking prob 35 bulbs keeps blowing bulbs even after both headlight assemblies were replaced. Have to replace a bulb about every 3rd week. In fact one is out right now.

Agreed. It’s a company van. If I were paying the bills I’d be that guy that turned his car into a rolling billboard advertisement of how big a piece of shit Ram/FCA is.

That wouldn’t surprise me, the body was really only designed for inline-4 diesels, a V6 is quite a lot larger than what’s supposed to go there.

Maybe a Half Hemi would be the way that they should’ve gone? Take something like the Ram 2500/3500's 6.4 Hemi, cut it in half to a 3.2 I4 pushrod motor, and stick that in there? 205 hp, 215 lb-ft, which would be OK, I guess...

doesn’t your van have an “electrical fault in the heater”?

why not write it off into a tree?

It has many electrical gremlins. My favorite that the dealer has never been able to fix is that if you put the hazards on and lock the doors the alarm goes off in some kind of really annoying morse code instantly.

I’ve been at my job for 3 weeks now, and I’ve talked to all the guys that have been driving these ProMasters. So far, they’ve all been reliable enough and no one has even been stranded once. I hope that’s a trend, because they just bought a few more and one of the new ones will be mine in the next week or two.

How many miles does yours have?

In my previous job I managed a fleet that included 3 Ram C/Vs with this engine. Except for the cylinder head flaw that affected the early ones, this engine has been strong and reliable. Even the one with the cylinder head rebuild is pushing 260k and it’s a 2013.

2015 157k miles so it’s up there but the problems have been throughout its life. I’m now waiting 3 weeks for motor mounts and an alternator (that was already replaved 10 months ago) that’s ridiculous wait for basic parts.

That’s crazy. The highest mileage one we have is 87k, but so far they’ve only had problems involving a headlight recall or something. Fortunately for me, with my new job I won’t have anything to do with managing the fleet; just driving, so it’s someone else’s problem now.

I bet the wait for those parts would be longer if it was for a Nissan NV. I seriously hope I never have to deal with those things again.
